A couple of weekends ago I took my good friend out to the family ranch to see the new baby animals, and family for Sunday lunch. We had a great time playing with the baby lambs (before one pooped on me as I was carrying it) and spending time with my family. Today’s post is about keeping fashion fun when you go out to the ranch.
The main thing to remember when outdoors, you’re going to get some dirt on you. So, don’t wear your favorite and most expensive jeans and shoes. The two things to remember. No really, if you’re going to listen to any advice regarding fashion and outdoors, let that be the most important thing that sets in.
When spending anytime outdoors, wear something that is comfortable and easy to move around in. Life on the ranch is fast paced, and you never know when you’ll be asked to step in and help out. If it’s cold, you want to wear layers that are flexible; this is where a vest and sweater come in handy. A vest will keep you warm, but not restrict you as you move around.
And don’t forget the shoes! You don’t have to go out and buy the $400 boot, actually really don’t go out and buy those boots. Just a sturdy shoe you can wear as you walk around, and something you can wear if you decide to ride or not.
The main thing to remember is to be comfortable, and practical. You can still look cute, but remember to wear something that you don’t mind getting dirty and goes with the weather. Columbia Company makes fleece vests that you can find in bright colors, and Target has some great light weight sweaters to choose from this season. If its’ warmer, you can pair a vest with a button up cotton shirt. Just remember to avoid the “jump suit denim looks” Try to find a bright or patterned shirt to pair with a solid vest and good jeans. Lands’ End has some button up shirts this season that you could use on the ranch or pair with another outfit!
Here are some fun photos we took out at the ranch that day!
